Loke to Sanusi: “Focus on state development, not political speculations!”

IN a pointed response to Kedah Menteri Besar (MB) Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor’s recent remarks on opposition moves to take over Putrajaya, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook urged Sanusi to concentrate on state development instead of engaging in political speculations.

“Those who talk about moves to take over the government are irresponsible. As an MB and a politician he (Sanusi) should focus on his work (in Kedah) instead,” said the Seremban MP.

“Whatever move (other parties want to take), they can do so. As Transport Minister, my only move is to digitalise the Transport Ministry and focus on efforts to empower the MyJPJ application and so on.”

Following Sanusi’s assertion that it is normal in a democratic system for opposition MPs to back the government, citing the instance of five Bersatu MPs supporting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the continued development in their constituencies, there is now a call for a focus on state affairs.

Moreover, the Kedah MB had previously dismissed the idea of a lasting unity government, predicting a change by the end of the year. His statements were in response to speculation about the “Dubai Move” referring to alleged discussions between opposition leaders and government representatives in the UAE.

The purported aim was to strategise on identifying MPs who could switch allegiance to the opposition for a new government formation.

Furthermore, Anwar downplayed the “Dubai Move” while Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi claimed prior awareness of the plot. – Jan 4, 2023
