UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Lokman Adam has urged the party Youth leader Dr Akmal Saleh to quit, adding that the latter should instead join the Perikatan Nasional (PN) or PAS.
In a video that is circulating on social media, a visibly frustrated Lokman gave some sound advise to the firebrand UMNO youth leader who has been attacking the unity government for months.
The latest jibes from Dr Akmal that thinned Lokman’s patience is the comments from the youth leader against the Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli after the PKR lost the Sungai Bakap by-elections.
Dr Akmal purportedly blamed Rafizi for the Pakatan Harapan (PH) defeat in Saturday’s (July 6) Sungai Bakap by-election and it has set tongues wagging about his political allegiance.
“The dumb and stupid formula by the formula king (moniker for Rafizi) has borne fruits in Sungai Bakap,” Dr Akmal penned in his Facebook page.
He attacked Rafizi, who is also the PKR deputy president, whose party is an UMNO ally in the ruling unity government.
“Congratulations to Sungai Bakap folks. Leaders mustn’t be arrogant with the people.”
In a response to Dr Akmal, Lokman said: “We are trying to strengthen the unity government, you (Akmal) every day play a role in destroying this government
“It is better to honourably resign from the position of UMNO Youth Leader, Bersatu can join, PAS can also join.”
