Lokman reinstated as UMNO Supreme Council member

DATUK Lokman Noor Adam penned on his Facebook page yesterday (Feb 16) that UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has informed him of his reinstatement as an UMNO Supreme Council member.

“I have just received a call from Mohamad that the supreme council meeting has nullified my expulsion. Now I’m back as a Supreme Council member. Thank you to the president, deputy president, supreme council members and everyone who prayed for me,” he wrote.

With this nullification, Lokman added that his right to contest in the upcoming party elections has also been reinstated.

Lokman was sacked from UMNO on Feb 7, 2020.

He had previously been referred to the party’s disciplinary body for his remarks against UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Lokman had chastised Zahid for being “weak” and “having no principles” in response to Zahid’s claimed remarks that UMNO, like PAS, should work with then-prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Meanwhile, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz was also sworn in as a Supreme Council member yesterday. The International Trade and Industry Minister also announced earlier this month that he would be vying for one of the 25 seats in the council.

He noted that this was because he wanted to build his political foundation and ensure his long-term success. — Feb 17, 2023
