BRUTAL Absolutely brutal beyond comprehension were the brickbats hurled by unapologetic subscribers of Malaysiakini after the country’s first independent news portal retracted –and apologised – over a report that alleged an internal push by DAP to replace Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
This came about just hours after Malaysiakini had aired the report entitled “Internal DAP Push to Oust Chow, Re-Install Guan Eng as Penang CM” by citing three unnamed state assemblymen purportedly from Penang.
“Malaysiakini has retracted the article after discovering certain errors in the report based on the meeting with the three assemblypersons,” the news portal pointed after DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng and nine other DAP state representatives denied having spoken to Malaysiakini.

While the so-called Malaysiakini subscribers – only subscribers can post comments – are threatening a walk-out by not wanting to renew their subscription to the extent of calling for a boycott of the news portal, there are some who felt the need to look beyond the conspiracy theory of DAP-bashing or even the existence of a “PN (perikatan Nasional) mole” in the news portal.
Here are six of five that can serve as food for thought (verbatim and uncensored):
