IMAGINE being ditched by one’s husband who flirted with his employee and later forcing the poor woman into divorce by taking custody of her three young daughters.
Such real-life drama is one encountered by influencer Shermine Hau Shi Ni (a.k.a. Shermine Hau-Ah Moi to her Malay audience) whose estranged spouse and renowned TikTok content creator-cum-entrepreneur Chin View Hau (or View Chin to his Malay fans) has been dating Amirah Aqilah Firdaus a.k.a. Mira – also an influencer herself – with her full knowledge.
Interestingly, View Chin who along with Mira have been berated by netizens of all ethnic background has counter-claimed during a recent interview with China Press that it was his wife of eight years who had cheated on him by having engaged in extramarital affairs.
“These allegations are false and not true. As a result, they have damaged my personal reputation. Therefore, I hereby reserve the right to pursue legal action and claim damages and compensation,” lambasted Shermine in a Facebook post.
With the backing and blessing of netizens who are all well-aware of the View Chin-Mira affair, the social media personality is now going one step further by reporting Mira to the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) for destroying her marriage.
Had Shermine been swifter or more precise in her action, she could have tipped off the relevant state Islamic Religious Department to nab the scandalous couple in action for Mira could eventually be charged for khalwat (close proximity) or worse still zina (adultery).
At any rate, View Chin seemed honest about the whole affair. He even admitted to wanting to take Mira as his wife even if this means that he has first to convert to Islam – an intention that was chastised by many female netizens as taking a convenient route out of his guilt.
Recalling the entire episode of her husband’s scandal which has been laid bare on social media – and surprisingly ‘very appealing’ among the Malay audience – Shermine suspects that the relationship between View Chin and Mira could have started two years ago.
Shermine shared that Mira had been engaged in December 2021 and back then she and View had even attended Mira’s engagement ceremony.
“However, I believe Mira broke off the engagement because she was already going steady with View Chin,” she suggested. View Chin, too, confirmed Mira’s engagement and that she had subsequent broken off with her future husband as the couple was not a good match for each other.
In her latest Instagram Story, Mira has openly apologised to Shermine and her three children.
“I, Amirah Aqilah Firdaus, wishes to apologise to Shermine, Sylvia, Scarlett and Shyane after what happened. I feel sorry and admit all my mistakes,” she penned. “But my relationship with View Chin started after they were legally divorced (on Dec 1, 2022). Not when they were still together as what has gone viral now.”
Mira further claimed that she had nothing to do with the divorce and was willing to accept all criticism with an open heart.
As it is, it seems that there is little likelihood that View Chin would have compelled to the several conditions laid by Shermine in her quest to salvage her marriage, notably for the former to publicly admit he had cheated, and to fire Mira as his employee.
“I said I would protect (him) but I wouldn’t protect her,” Shermine pointed out. “But he said he couldn’t. Even when he was being interviewed by the media, he was protecting Mira (with) every single word.”
In addition to those conditions, Shermine also revealed that she had requested View Chin to transfer 60% of company shares to her to obtain management rights (she originally had a 20% stake in their business) but he reportedly refused to do so.
