Macau GLC shows interest in investing in Perak

IPOH: A government-linked company from Macau Special Administrative Region is interested in collaborating with the Perak government to develop mixed projects in the state.

The state exco for Housing, Local Government, Public Transport, Non-Muslim Affairs and New Villages, Paul Yong Choo Kiong, said among the projects are 80,000 affordable houses on 242ha near the Perak-Selangor border.

“However, the matter is still in under a study. The company has invested in the Philippines and Africa and we are confident that it can complete the construction of 80,000 homes in three years like what it had done in Macau.

“A study will be carried out first to ensure the development and cooperation benefits the people of Perak,” Yong told reporters after receiving a delegation from the Macau-Malaysia Cultural, Economic and Trade Chamber delegation led by its chairman, Wan Kuok Koi.

On another development, Yong said the state government is in discussions to revive the heavily-in-debt Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) theme park.

In December last year, MAPS was closed for two days after Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) cut its electricity supply due to unpaid bills. – Jan 20, 2020 Bernama
