THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) confirmed calling Tun Daim Zainuddin’s wife Toh Puan Na’imah Abdul Khalid as well as her two sons Muhammad Amin Zainuddin Daim and Muhammad Amir Zainuddin Daim to record their statements at the MACC Headquarters in Putrajaya today.
They are being called to give their statements to ascertain values of some of the high-value assets – both domestic and abroad – that are held under the companies belonging to them in relation to the investigation on former finance minister Daim.
“A notice was served to Tun Daim under Section 36(1)(a) MACC Act 2009 on June 7, 2023 while his family members were served notices under Section 36(1)(b) of the MACC Act 2009,” the graft buster agency pointed out in a statement issued tonight (Jan 10).
“As have been stated in the MACC media statement dated Dec 30, investigations commenced in February last year based on information from the Pandora Papers. Investigations into the assets held by Tun Daim is on-going.”
Apart from Daim’s immediate family members, MACC added that it has also recorded a statement from former prime minister (PM) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to facilitate an investigation relating to the usage of the RM700 mil funds spent on publicity and promotion during the previous administration. – Jan 10, 2024
