MACHANG MP Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub (pic, left) of Umno has been appointed the new chairman of Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) effective April 8.

He replaces Tan Sri Bakke Salleh. According to an April 3 report by Singapore’s The Straits Times, he had been shown the exit at MPOB. Bakke was appointed MPOB chair on July 31, 2018.
FocusM reported yesterday that more Perikatan Nasional (PN) Members of Parliament (MPs) were expected to be offered plum jobs at key government-linked companies as Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin sought to tighten his grip on power.
PN MPs had been informed about these developments and the respective agencies they would be chairman of, people familiar with the matter said on condition of anonymity.
Statutory bodies and government agencies that had seen the removal of board members appointed under the previous Pakatan Harapan government include the country’s largest statutory body, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara), social security organisation Socso, and the Human Resource Development Fund. – April 9, 2020
