MAG partners Norwegian firm to develop climate software solution

THE national carrier Malaysia Airlines’ parent company, Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), has teamed up with the Norway-based climate technology company CHOOOSE to develop a climate software solution.

The partnership is to support its commitment to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, in line with the group’s sustainability blueprint, according to MAG.

“MAG recognises the importance of its role in creating a sustainable future for the aviation industry,” FMT reported MAG group chief sustainability officer Philip See as saying.

He added that MAG is committed to not just reducing carbon footprint but rally participation from customers to be part of this significant journey, towards achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

“By embedding the CHOOOSE-powered solution directly into the customer booking flow, the group provides transparency around the carbon emissions of every journey and educates customers on their carbon impact with precise calculations according to the latest industry standards.”

Consumers can then opt to address their flight’s carbon emissions and support high-quality carbon projects by purchasing verified carbon offsets in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

CHOOOSE will issue a certificate validating the customer’s climate offset purchase following the transaction.

The national airline group noted that the partnership would be extended to cover the purchase of sustainable aviation fuel. — March 31, 2023
