Adequate supplies as critical sector operating as usual – Mohamed Azmin

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has allowed businesses in the critical manufacturing sector to operate during the movement control order period to ensure that the basic needs and services for the people are not affected.

Senior Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said although this is important to ensure uninterrupted supplies, the manufacturing industry is also required to observe strict guidelines to guarantee quality products for the people.

“The guidelines include the practice of social distancing and sanitation process for workers in the manufacturing sector,” he said in a posting on his official Facebook today.

He also listed important products categorised under the critical sector, including local and imported food and drinks, household items, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices and operating equipment.

Also listed are oil and gas, chemical products and materials, electrical and electronic products, and petrochemical materials.

“Therefore, the people should not panic and should continue to stay at home,” he said.

As the country entered the second day of the movement control order today, the people have been reminded to stay at home to help curb the spread of Covid-19. – March 19, 2020, Bernama
