Celcom to become ICT partner for Kwasa Damansara

KUALA LUMPUR: Celcom Axiata Bhd has signed an agreement with Kwasa Land Sdn Bhd to become the “preferred information and communication technology (ICT) partner” in the development plan of the upcoming Kwasa Damansara smart township in Sungai Buloh.

In a joint statement today, Celcom said it will be responsible for building the foundation for ICT infrastructure and converged connectivity facilities within the township as well as to provide the smart solutions required to enable Kwasa Land to plan and develop the smart city.

The Kwasa Damansara township focuses on three key components: Green Township, Connected and Inclusive.

Celcom’s involvement will include, but is not limited to, the development of township fiberisation, converged 5G connectivity solutions, safety and security smart city solution, digital signages, dedicated internet access for businesses, and common area WiFi connectivity.

“It will be one of the smart townships empowered by Celcom, as we progressively build our capacity and continue to contribute towards the development of a digital nation,” said Celcom’s chief executive officer Idham Nawawi.

Meanwhile, Kwasa Land managing director Datuk Mohd Lotfy Mohd Noh said the partnership is in line with its vision to turn Kwasa Damansara into a smart city.

“With state-of-the-art smart city features, such as cutting-edge ICT infrastructure that incorporates smart solutions and big data, Kwasa Damansara is set to become a catalyst of integrated socioeconomic ecosystems and promote a more modern, healthier lifestyle,” he said.

The township, measuring 913.37ha (2,257 acres), sited within the vicinity of Kota Damansara and Sungai Buloh, is expected to become home to over 250,000 residents upon completion. – Feb 17, 2020, Bernama
