COVID-19: Perak records highest number of cases, fatalities dip

THE Health Ministry announced 3,297 new COVID-19 infections and five deaths in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that there were 4,456 recoveries, bringing the total number of those recovered to 249,209.

“We have a total number of 283,569 infection cases as of now. Unfortunately, five people have lost their lives to the coronavirus, bringing the total death toll to 1,056,” he added.

Four of the deceased were locals and the balance was a foreigner.

For the first time, Perak recorded the highest number of infections today at 1,215, followed by Selangor (868) and Johor (431).

On related matter, Noor Hisham announced that his ministry has detected six new clusters in the country.

All the clusters are workplace related.

“With that, we have 510 active clusters. Six clusters have ended today; which are Mikro, Tasik Utama, Titian, Jalan Wangsa construction site, Kota Road and Tanjung Lumpur. – Feb 21, 2021.
