D’Nonce to focus on core aspects moving forward, says CEO

D’NONCE Technology Bhd will be focusing on its core businesses of supporting the healthcare sector and high-tech packaging moving forward, identifying the sectors as ignored sectors, but just as essential as the primary players.

“We have segmented earnings, so we looked to our strengths, which turned out to be supporting the healthcare sector, as well as providing high-tech packaging,” said D’Nonce CEO Tho Yow Yin to FocusM.

Tho added that more than half of the group’s earnings over the past year had come from supporting healthcare, which includes packaging for gloves during the movement control order.

“As such, we have been upgrading machines and skills, as well as upping production in support of this industry,” said Tho.

High-tech packaging, on the other hand, remains just as essential to the electronics manufacturers. Tho clarified that this packaging is for the production line, rather than for the finished product.

“As components get smaller, special trays and other similar items are needed for the components to be able to pass through the production line, and there is quite a bit of business from this,” said Tho, noting that sensors for artificial intelligence (AI) and facial recognition cannot be made without these trays.

At the same time, he also shared that the group was going to utilise the experience of its Bangkok operations in providing clean room technology to enter the market in providing personal protective equipment (PPE), and remain focused on driving those sustainable sectors.

Moving forward, Tho noted that D’Nonce will be open to mergers or joint ventures, but emphasised that synergy is an important aspect to be considered.

“We are interested, but we also have to ensure synergy in the process. We are not keen on doing things for the sake of doing things, or to cause a stir in the market,” said Tho.

D’Nonce’s shares ended the trading day at 29 sen, down half a sen, with 157,000 shares traded. – July 9, 2020
