FGV distributes 13,000 bags of foodstuff to B40 group

FGV Holdings Bhd will distribute a total of 13,000 bags under the FGV Food Relief Bag (FGV FreB) programme as a responsible corporate citizen to assist Malaysians in need as the country undergoes the Movement Control Order (MCO) due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

FGV group CEO Datuk Haris Fadzilah Hassan said the contributions are meant for the B40 group, especially those affected by pay cuts and those dependent on daily wages.

He said the FGV FreB bags contain basic food items such as rice, SAJI cooking oil, PRAI sugar, SAJI mountain salt, SAJI instant noodles, SAJI sweetened creamer, SAJI evaporated creamer and SAJI chili sauce, products of the FGV Group.

“We understand the needs of the community, especially for families in these trying times to ensure that food is always available.

“Being involved directly in the food supply chain industry, this contribution is very close to the heart and part of the FGV Group’s continuous efforts to support the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030,” he said in a statement today.

Haris Fadzilah said the first 3,000 FGV FReB bags were despatched on March 25 to selected NGOs, namely Pertubuhan Amal Ibnu Sina Malaysia (PAPISMA) Selangor division, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Islam (PERKIM) Kapar division and Teraju Ekonomi Asnaf (TERAS).

The balance of the contribution will be distributed to several other locations under the coordination of the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities.

“FGV sincerely hopes that this effort will ease some of the burden faced by the less fortunate,” he added. — March 26, 2020, Bernama
