THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested and will charge former Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng over the Penang undersea tunnel project, among others.
The agency in a statement today said it had received consent from the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) to prosecute Lim on three counts. The first two relate to the RM6.3 bil Penang undersea tunnel project.
“Prosecution details are as below:
Date : 7th August 2020 (9 am)
Location : Special Corruption Court, Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur.
Offences : Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
Date : 10th August 2020 (9 am)
Location : Penang Sessions Court
Offenses : Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009,” MACC said.
Meanwhile, Lim, also a former finance minister, would also be charged on a different but unnamed case.

Date : 11th August 2020 (9 am)
Location : Penang Sessions Court
Offenses : Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009,” the agency added.
MACC issued the statement after Lim, who is DAP secretary-general, was questioned for more than an hour at the commission’s headquarter in Putrajaya tonight. – Aug 6, 2020
