KOSSAN Rubber Industries Bhd (KOSSAN) through its charitable-arm Yayasan KOSSAN has pledged to donate a total of two million pieces of medical gloves to support the Malaysian authorities in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
KOSSAN group managing director and chief executive officer Tan Sri Lim Kuang Sia in a statement yesterday said as an essential element in the healthcare system, KOSSAN continues to do their part in ensuring the supply of personal protective equipment such as rubber gloves remains uninterrupted.
Yayasan KOSSAN president Lawrence Lim said since Feb 26, 2020 the foundation has been donating gloves to government and local authorities such as the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police Headquarters, Malaysian Armed Forces, Royal Malaysia Police including the Marine Police Force, Civil Defence Malaysia, Klang Fire and Rescue Department, Klang and Shah Alam Municipal Councils, medical centres such as Hospital Serdang and Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, old folks’ homes as well as dialysis centres.
“These Shirudo Confidenz and Shirudo 7th Sense nitrile gloves are medical-grade gloves and tested against viral penetration (ASTM F1671 and ISO 16604).
“Our thoughts continue to be with the Malaysian authorities, medical and front line professionals as well as all citizens dealing with the impact related to the devastating Covid-19 outbreak,” he said.
Founded in 1979, KOSSAN is one of the largest manufacturers of disposable gloves with an annual capacity of 29 billion pieces and the largest manufacturer of technical rubber products in Malaysia with an annual compounding capacity of 10,000 metric tonnes.
