SINGAPORE: Matrade, Malaysia’s trade promotion agency, is inviting Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Tier 1 & Tier 2 suppliers, airlines as well as Malaysian and global aerospace companies to participate in KLIABC 2020.
KLIABC, or Kuala Lumpur International Aerospace Business Convention, is Matrade’s signature Business-to-Business (B2B) aerospace trade event.
This year’s event will take place from June 23 to 25 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur.
“It will focus on addressing new opportunities, future challenges and Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) industry analysis as well as trends in the Southeast Asia region,” Matrade chief executive officer Datuk Wan Latiff Wan Musa said.
He was speaking at the soft launch of the trade event here, in conjunction with the agency’s participation in the Singapore Airshow 2020, which 34 Malaysian delegates and global participants attended.
Held biennially, KLIABC is organised in partnership with Malaysia Aerospace Industry Association and Advance Business Events of France.
Wan Latiff said KLIABC is an excellent platform for international and Malaysian aerospace players to network and obtain in-depth knowledge of the latest trends while developing new business linkages through its conference and B2B business meetings.
First introduced in 2015, KLIABC remains a cost-effective platform for Malaysian companies particularly small and medium enterprises to network with potential trade partners in improving their market access and securing their position in the global supply chain, he said.
He noted that the last KLIABC in 2018 successfully gathered 151 organisations from 21 countries representing decision-makers and renowned aerospace players seeking Malaysian partners in the aerospace industry.
“The event will strengthen Malaysia’s position as a hub for the aerospace industry in the region,” he added.
According to him, KLIABC has seen the participation of prominent aerospace players such as Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, Bombardier, Rolls-Royce, Safran, Spirit Aerosystems, Thales & Daher and various airlines as well.
“We are targeting to coordinate around 2,700 business meetings to take place during the two-day B2B sessions during this event,” he said.
