KUANTAN: Pahang has reduced quit rent rates by up to 80% for the industrial category effective immediately, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said today.
The reduction was given via remission after an appeal from industry players on the new rates that came into force on Jan 1.
“Through this remission, the industrial category quit rent is reduced to 50 sen per sq metre from RM2.50 that was previously gazetted for 2020,” he stold a press conference here today that was also attended by State Secretary Datuk Seri Dr Sallehuddin Ishak and Pahang Land and Mines director Datuk Nazri Abu Bakar.
Also present were Pahang Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry chairman Tan Sri Lim Sing @ Lam Kam Seng and Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Pahang branch chairman Wong Kok Loon.
Wan Rosdy said the remission was also given to industrial areas that had higher quit rent rates such as in Gebeng and Genting Highlands.
“For Gebeng, the quit rent rate for the industrial category after remission is RM1 per sq metre compared with RM5 previously while for Genting Highlands, the rate is reduced to 80 sen per sq metre from RM4,” he said.
He also announced lower quit rent rates for the agriculture category for areas of over 40ha the state through remission. The new rate is RM250 per hectare versus RM300 previously.
According to him, there are8,288 industrial category landowners and 282,429 agriculture category landowners in the state.
For land with the NIL Condition status, Wan Rosdy said its 6,360 owners could apply to change the land-use category to enable them to enjoy the new rates without worrying about the quit rent payment deadline.
“For landowners in the process of applying for a change in their land status who will see their applications go past the May 31 deadline for quit rent payment, the payment will be suspended until the change of status process is completed,” he added. – Jan 22, 2020, Bernama
