Petrol and diesel prices continue to fall

THE prices of petrol and diesel at petrol stations are set to fall again for the period of March 14-20, according to the Ministry of Finance.

In a media statement, the ministry said RON97 prices will drop 9 sen per litre to RM2.10 per litre from RM2.19 previously, while RON95 is set to drop 7 sen per litre to RM1.82 per litre, from RM1.89.

Diesel prices will also be falling by 9 sen per litre to RM1.87 per litre from RM1.96 previously.

The ministry also stated that the instability in oil prices is due to disagreements in production between the primary oil producing nations in the world, as well as the effects of the Covid-19 outbreak which has been classified as a pandemic by the World Health Organisation.

The reduction in prices is noted as a step to stabilise oil prices for consumers and balance the effects of this uncertainty in oil products to the government at the same time. – March 13, 2020
