Sapura Energy denies ‘unfounded allegations’

SAPURA Energy Bhd has issued a statement today to refute “innuendos and allegations” made about the company on social media.

While it is unclear what allegations it is referring to, Sapura Energy’s board of directors “refutes all these unfounded allegations”.

“As a listed company, the board of directors subscribes to the guidelines and rules of the Main Market Listing Requirements of Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd and all other relevant authorities, and is bound by high standards of corporate governance stipulated in the Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance.

“The board of directors has always and continues to act in the best interests of the company.”

Sapura Energy is one of Permodalan Nasional Bhd’s key strategic companies, in which the fund owns a 40% stake in the firm. 

The oil and gas group is led by Shahril Shamsuddin as its president and group chief executive officer. Shahril was also recently appointed Mimos Bhd chairman. – June 30, 2020
