Malay DAP duo mocked by brethren for apologising to Hindus, wanting action against ‘trisula’ trampling culprit

NATIONAL DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) member Sheikh Omar Ali and the party’s national vice-chairman Syahredzan Johan have come under heavy fire by rightists after they came forward to condemn the heinous act of anti-kuil haram vigilante Tamim Dahri trampling on the Trisoolam.

Sheikh Omar who is also the Johor DAP vice-chairman has personally apologised to Malaysian Hindus over action of the Gerakan Anti Rumah Anutan Haram (GARAH) co-founder which has sparked furore among Hindu devotees and politician alike.

Deemed a sacred symbol closely associated with Lord Shiva, the Trisoolam is revere by Hindus as it represents divine power, protection and spiritual balance.

“I would also like to emphasise that the act DOESN’T REPRESENT THE TEACHINGS OF ISLAM,” penned the Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board (MPIB) chairman in a Facebook post.

“Islam doesn’t teach its followers to ‘burn’ the rakyat and the country with the fire of racism and narrow religiousness. Islam is a religion of peace, mercy and promotes harmony – not division and hostility.”

In the same light, Syahredzan urged the authorities, especially the police, to take firm and immediate action, including investigating this incident since a police report has been lodged.

“Otherwise, public confidence in the authorities will be eroded and some will take action themselves (take the law into their own hands). We don’t want our country to plunge into chaos and disorder,” he justified on DAP’s FB page.

“I once again urge the government, especially the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), the Youth and Sports Ministry and the Unity Ministry to jointly formulate a programne to increase activities among young people of various races and religions.

“I also reiterate the call for a meeting to be held among religious representatives to ease the tension that has recently erupted.”

Slammed by brethren

But instead of getting praised for festering goodwill by dousing religious tension, both Sheikh Omar Ali and Syahredzan were slammed for their muted response when the Quran was trampled by an apparent murtad (apostate) Muslim convert whom Multiracial Revert Muslims (MRM) founder Firdaus Wong Wai Hung admitted to personally converting.

Fortunately, a pro-Madani commenter came to defend the DAP duo that Syahredzan had in fact “condemned the trampling of Quran” incident.

For being righteous, both Sheikh Omar Ali and Syahredzan were further demonised with the derogatory “ba*ua” label for being bootlickers to what perceived to be Chinese-dominant, hence kafir (infidel) DAP.

They were further chastised for being silent in the car burning incident following the alleged attack on anti-illegal temple activist Cikgu Chandra’s house and property on Monday (March 9).

Well, the above summed up the main ‘bullets’ directed at Malay Muslim DAP leaders who are bold enough to speak out in the quest to quell what seems to be opposition-slant rightists who are increasingly embracing the narrative of Hindu temples occupying land not belonging to them. – March 11, 2026
