Malay netizens “clap hands” as Malaysian Chinese tell queue-cutting PRC man to “go back to China”

IF indeed there was ever irrefutable proof of local Chinese’s complete immersion in Malaysia, it is to be found in a short clip uploaded on X (formerly Twitter) by user @ShamaaKoussa.

In the brief video, a crowd queuing in front of a store at Pavilion Bukit Jalil can be heard very loudly berating a man believed to be a Mainland Chinese citizen for queue jumping.

The crowd let him know what they thought of his anti-social behaviour and many could be heard telling him to “go back to China”.

In the video which has generated 817,000 views at time of writing, the irony of the bigoted statement was not lost on netizens who responded with a flurry of comments. Here is a sample:

More than few pointed to the inherent racism of the abuse as well as the irony of Malaysian Chinese using a phrase normally directed at them by local bigots.

Others shared similar experiences of biadap (unruly) Mainlanders who seem to be cut from a completely different cloth.

With many agreeing that public shaming was the best medicine for these thick-skinned and “uncivilised” China nationals.

One netizen seemed a bit confused and enquired about the obvious antagonism between the two sets of ‘Cs’.

The enquiry was met with explanations regarding the differences between Mainlanders and Malaysian Chinese.

Apart from the racist reaction towards the queue jumper, one netizen had a very pressing question – how come so many people seem to have time to queue up for collectables in a mall on a working day?

All said and done, this is the perfect riposte to local bigots who label Malaysian Chinese as pendatang and are constantly fanning 3R (race, royalty and religion) flames by highlighting vernacular education and Bahasa Melayu proficiency as litmus tests to loyalty.

This clip underlines just how very assimilated local Chinese are with Malaysian culture – they are quick to showcase that most Malaysian of traits – casual and ingrained racism.
