Malay voters in Selangor reminded of UMNO’s betrayal by befriending DAP

PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) is going all out to woo Malay voters in Selangor, including youngsters who sparked the “Green Wave” phenomenon during the recent 15th General Election (GE15), by telling them to reject UMNO by all means.

In line with its Selangor conquest plan, the PN coalition has reminded electorate in five UMNO-held state constituencies, namely Sg Air Tawar, Sg Panjang, Hulu Bernam, Sg Burong and Semenyih, that their assemblymen are now part of the Selangor Pakatan Harapan (PH) government until the end of the state government term this June.

Selangor PAS secretary Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir who announced the mobilisation of PN’s Selangor state election machinery has highlighted UMNO’s betrayal by willingly cooperating with PH, hence opposing PN.

“UMNO had in the past asked us to reject both DAP and PKR. DAP is said to be an extremist and racist against the Malay Islamic agenda while PKR is liberal and has no qualm conspiring with DAP. But today, they are friends,” explained the former Subang Jaya Municipal Council’s (MPSJ) local councilor.

“Previously, the combination of PAS and UMNO under the Muafakat Nasional (MN) banner had defeated PH in the Semenyih by-election as a result of political awareness among the Malay Muslim electorate. But today UMNO has chosen to partner PH that we toppled in the past.”

Added Roslan: “It seems that the agenda of fighting for the future fate of Selangor as well as defending the rights of Muslim Malays today seems to be supported only by PN which is represented by PAS and Bersatu.”

Unveiling the “Selangor BEST” slogan, Roslan further reiterated PN’s stance of not accepting DAP “which has a secular understanding to determine the direction of our lives”.

“That was the cause of our ‘No DAP’ in the past which UMNO has unfortunately forgotten,” he lamented. “We do not want the agenda of liberalism and pluralism in religion that PH is peddling to ruin the future of the ummah (Muslim solidarity).”

Roslan also regretted that UMNO, which previously built and empowered the politics of Ummah Unification while raising and strengthening the political power of the Malays, has decided to work with PH which is dominated by DAP.

“We are aware that Malay Muslims, including those in Selangor, are on average more inclined towards Ummah Unification politics which has eventually boosted the ‘Green Wave’ phenomenon,” he reckoned.

“Moreover, there are also many ordinary UMNO members who are comfortable and tend to slant towards MN’s struggle for they are far more matured than their top leadership at WTC (World Trade Centre which depicts UMNO’s headquarters).” – March 21, 2023
