Malaysia reports highest number of daily COVID-19 recoveries

THE Health Ministry (MOH) has reported 8,209 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative total to 595,374.

In a statement, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also reported that 7,049 patients have recovered from the infection, the highest number of daily COVID-19 recoveries since the start of the pandemic. Total discharged now stands at 508,947.

He noted that out of the total new cases recorded, 8,145 cases were local transmissions while the rest are imported cases and out of the 8.145 locally transmitted cases, 86.5% or 7,046 of them were locals while 13.5% or 1,099 were foreigners.

Currently, there are 83,331 active cases, in which 880 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 446 of them in need of ventilator support.

Meanwhile, 103 people have succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 3,096.

Selangor continues to record the highest number of cases (3,125), followed by Kuala Lumpur (801) and Johor (752).

On related matter, Noor Hisham announced that his ministry has detected 24 new clusters in the country. – June 3, 2021
