Malaysians divided over e-hailing driver’s extra charges for air-cond

AN e-hailing driver has sparked mixed reactions among netizens after an image of a note on his car dashboard detailing additional charges based on air conditioning fan speed went viral.

The image, posted on MALAYSIA MOST VIRAL’s X account, details the extra “fee” imposed on passengers who choose to turn on the air-conditioning at the rear of the 6-seater vehicle, which ranges from RM20 to RM30.

This is on top of the “basic” air conditioning which is already provided at the front of the car, according to the same note.

Taking to the comments section to air their displeasure, several netizens questioned the rationale of imposing such fees, suggesting that the driver is given a 1-star rating.

Meanwhile, another netizen jokingly wondered if they could get “cashback” if they were to request that the driver turn down the air conditioning or simply just turn it off while another asked if there were additional service charges for driving at 30km/h from Bentong (in Pahang) to KLIA.

However, there were also netizens who were quick to defend the e-hailing driver’s move to impose additional charges for air conditioning at the rear of the car.

Another netizen pointed out that it was the driver’s right to impose additional charges for amenities that were not included in the e-hailing company’s policy.
