MALAYSIANS may have to start checking their burgers with a weighing scale soon, because a netizen claimed that his beloved Ramly burger patty had gone on an unexpected diet.
The netizen recently took to X to complain that the Burger Ramly patties appeared to have become smaller, suggesting that Malaysians might once again be getting less burger for their ringgit.
The post quickly caught the attention of our fellow netizens, with some apparently agreeing that the patty looked considerably more “kurus” than they remembered.
“Ramly burger has a shrinkflation. Used to be 70g, now 50g. A patty I bought 2 months ago is noticeably smaller now. I now have proof. I’m not going crazy because the patty is now smaller than the bread I used as the buns,” said @1Obefiend.

Accompanying his post were several photos showing the different sized patties to better elucidate his point.
“Too obvious. It is becoming thinner too,” echoed netizen @postafterx in the comment section.
@dee_drumpycat further lamented that most of the products are undergoing the same transformation to survive.
He pointed out the box drinks which were 250ml in the past, and that they were now 200ml. Also, milk powder had been reduced to 800g from 1kg.
“Nothing is spared from shrinkflation it seems,” added @Norreza19981 while @Ronnie50604835 said, “Well Big Mac isn’t big any more these days. It is just a sad Mac.”
However, @colinselva pointed out that people who cared about the health of their kids should make their own burger patties.
The debate seemed to diverge for a moment with @YueAi999 inquiring if Ramly imports its cow meat from India.
Towards this comment, @mat_aidilx replied in the affirmative.
Before we declare a national burger emergency, there is one small detail worth knowing. Ramly patties come in different sizes.
According to product listings, Ramly chicken patties are available in 50g, 60g and 70g variants, while beef/buffalo patties are also sold in different weights.
So, if your burger looks smaller than the one you had previously, it may not necessarily be because the patty has undergone some sinister corporate diet programme.
Consumers may simply have been served a different-sized patty. In other words, the burger did not necessarily shrink.
For years, many Malaysians probably treated Ramly burger as though it were a single, standardised species of burger patty.
People go to the roadside stall, point at the menu, say “daging satu,” and expect a certain amount of meat to arrive between two buns.
Nobody normally asks: “Boss, berapa gram patty?”
Nobody stands at the stall with a weighing scale either. Imagine saying this, “Boss, wait ah. This is 50g or 70g?”
The burger seller would probably stare at the customer like he had just requested the audited financial statements of the burger stall.
So, Malaysians need not panic. Put away the measuring tape, cancel the burger emergency and enjoy your Ramly burger.
After all, there are already enough things for Malaysians to worry about. The size of our burger patty probably does not need to be one of them.—Sept 7, 2026
