AS many have expected, the number of new COVID-19 cases continues to steadily increase on a daily basis, with Saturday (Feb 26) morning marking its breach into the 30,000 mark.
All over the country, there have been 30,644 new COVID-19 cases recorded, with 257 of them being imported cases.
According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country since the pandemic started now stands at 3,346,073.
The site also showed that 22,678 patients have recovered since yesterday (Feb 25), bringing the number to a total of 3,040,850 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak began.
However, the nation’s hospitalisation rate climbed to 69.5%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) reaching 60.6% capacity.
Currently, 332 people are being treated in ICUs with a majority of them (196) in need of ventilator support.
There is also a high number fatalities recorded, standing at 57 with 14 patients brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 32,591.
Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in the country now stands at 294,430, with 95.8% of them (282,073) are being subjected to home quarantine. – Feb 26, 2022
