Malaysia’s new COVID-19 cases showing steady decrease in numbers

DESPITE still recording a high number of new infections, there have been a slight decrease of COVID-19 cases being reported with Saturday (March 26) standing at 21,839, with 287 of them being imported cases.

This now brings the country’s total to 4,067,301 since the pandemic began.

According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 22,324 patients have recovered since yesterday (March 25), bringing the number to a total of 3,819,299 patients discharged since the COVID-19 outbreak began.

However, the nation’s hospitalisation rate is still high at 64.1%, with the intensive care units (ICUs) reaching 57.2% capacity.

Currently, 291 people are being treated in ICUs with a majority of them (188) in need of ventilator support.

There is still a high number fatalities recorded, standing at 52 deaths with 15 patients brought in dead (BID), bringing the death toll to 34,717.

Meanwhile, the total number of active cases in the country now stands at 247,065, with 97.1% of them (239,798) are being subjected to home quarantine. – March 26, 2022
