Malaysia’s November CPI rises 0.9% year-on-year, below forecast

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s November consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.9%, less than expected because of a fall in prices for clothing and footwear and lower transport costs, government data showed on Dec 20.

Economists in a Reuters poll had expected a rise of 1.2%.

Last month, the CPI rose 1.1% from a year earlier, the same pace as in September.

The central bank said last month that headline inflation was expected to be “low” this year and remain modest though higher in 2020. – Reuters
