A VIDEO purportedly showing a male student with backless top in a lecture setting has social media buzzing as to what is appropriate dressing when attending class.
No details accompany the video which was first shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @faizfayeshz. It is not known with certainty if the young man was attending class or indeed if he is Malaysian. But that’s beside the point.
Many comments again revealed the ugly head of homophobia as the effeminate-looking boy was subject to some very cruel remarks which FocusM shall not repeat here.

Many who assumed that the video was taken in an academic setting are of the opinion that there should be stricter guidelines on dress codes.
“There’s a reason why dress codes exist in academic settings. If he wanna wear that he can do it at the mall, cinema or the beach. In university or public library? Big no,” argued Muhd Fred II on Facebook.
However, there were messages of support too, with some netizens insisting it’s no big deal and the boy should be left to wear what he so desires.
Facebook user Thian Gee Ong supported the young man’s “freedom of expression” while Rose Ahmad quipped: “It takes great confident to wear that. Let him be.”
Reena James gave the thumbs up with a simple: “He looks great.”
