Man apprehended for spraying blue paint on a monkey: Who’s the monkey now?

PEOPLE should never monkey around with the wildlife. Perhaps due to Monday blues or some other reason, a man decided to spray the fur of a monkey he caught with blue paint, leading to mass condemnation from the Internet community.

In a video that has since gone viral on X, the elderly man could be seen mercilessly spraying blue paint on a shrieking monkey while another onlooker, likely his friend, watched in amusement. Few netizens, however, found the scene funny.

According to @Tianglektrik, he was extremely foolish to do something evil, then record and post it on the social media platform. “He is already old but still stupid,” said @Tianglektrik.

True to his words, the man had since been apprehended by PERHILITAN, also known as the Department Of Wildlife And National Parks.

The Sungai Buloh District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor, reportedly told Berita Harian that the authorities received a report from a veterinary officer from the Petaling District. The incident is believed to have occurred in Taman Desa Moccis, U17, Shah Alam.

Netizen @hey_hus further pointed out that the monkey was held in a cage without a roof during midday.

“It must be crazy hot. Hopefully all the humans in this video get their fitting rewards,” he added.

Perhaps the winning comment goes to @PAKUtekan2020 who said,” Maybe he is angry with PKR, that is why the blue colour.”

The comment section gets funnier and funnier:

On another note, @jiwamuda_98 pointed out that this was normally done in the villages.

“After spraying the monkey, it was released back to its friends,” said @jiwamuda_98. The other monkeys who spot the “blue” monkey will get frightened.

Some even sprayed the monkey, then tied it to a tree to frighten away the others. @opiemust further claimed that the spraying trick works to frighten and depopulate the area of monkeys.

“It is good that he joins the monkey too. It is the nature of monkeys to break stuff, find for food. This is normal. If we ourselves behave without thought, then it is best we just become a monkey,” said @oresama2319. —May 25, 2025
