Massive support on X for re-opening of Teoh Beng Hock case

PRIME Minister (PM) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim met with the family members of the late Teoh Beng Hock. He announced that his government has decided to reopen the investigation into the latter’s death.

In a post on X and other social media platforms, Anwar gave assurances that a new investigation would be conducted with full transparency and fairness, free from any external interference.

He said it will take into account the Court of Appeal’s findings on Sept 5, 2014. This is indeed good news for the family, as their quest for justice is heard by the most powerful man in the country.

Netizens reaction to Anwar’s post on X shows massive support for the re-opening of the case.

A user saluted the PM, but urged the public to be patient with Anwar, as he is not a robot and needs time to settle many issues.

Another user said this is the leader the country needs. A courageous leader who fights for justice. And like many other users, this user also asked for the reopening of cases of disappearance.

For some users, it is only Anwar who can listen to the plight of the parents. Some blame the other PM’s for not having the courage to look into the case or even meet the family members.

Some users attacked Anwar, perhaps forgetting that the issue at stake is the image of the country and that Teoh’s family deserves closure. – Aug 3, 2024
