Masyarakat Madani policy: Possibly 500k affordable homes for B40 by 2025

THE Local Government Development Ministry (KPKT), in a statement today said more people, especially the B40 group, will be able to own homes by 2025 with the MADANI framework.

However, it said that could only be achieved with the cooperation of various parties.

KPKT said it is ready to review the National Housing Policy based on the MADANI policy framework so that it can be translated into the value of well-being and balance for all Malaysians.

Through the development of a new housing policy and more organised planning, KPKT believes that the target of providing 500,000 affordable houses by 2025 will be successful with the cooperation of all housing agencies at the federal, state, and private developer levels.

According to KPKT, they are studying the national housing policy to look at the housing sector as a whole, especially in improving the implementation of affordable housing and the provision of public housing.

Moreover, the new National Housing Policy will take into account the various needs of the people based on their culture, customs, religions, and scenarios of the country’s multi-racial society.

This is to strengthen the country’s housing development strategy, which is based on MADANI’s six core values: keMampanan (Sustainability), KesejAhteraan (Prosperity), Dayacipta (Innovation), hormAt (Respect), keyakiNan (Trust), and Ihsan (Compassion).

Furthermore, KPKT also stated that it would investigate housing policies in various countries, particularly Singapore, which has succeeded in providing public housing to 80% of its eligible citizens regardless of race. It stated that the ministry intended to share its knowledge of affordable housing development and management with Singapore.

Therefore, KPKT plans to hold a knowledge sharing session with housing experts from Singapore to strengthen the country’s housing development strategy. — Jan 23, 2023
