The Mat Rempit (a slang depicting youngsters partaking illegal activities such as street racing) phenomena is nothing new. It is a menace that continues to plague Malaysian roads with authorities seemingly at a loss as to how to curb these daredevils.
The loss of life seems to be no deterrent. Perhaps public sentiment has something to do with it as a video of a duo showing off their rempit skills drew praise from netizens.

Some could not hide their contempt by wishing the dynamic duo a horrible end.
Quite a few urged the authorities to take action since the number plate of the bike can clearly be seen in the video.
While majority of the comments condemned the acts of two Mat Rempit and their callous disregard for road safety, the mind boggles that some did applaud their antics.
It is a serious problem affecting all Malaysians and is not confined to a specific ethnic group as everyone uses these public roads.
