Mat Sabu: Pakatan’s “big tent” cannot include UMNO, Bersatu or PAS

PAKATAN Harapan’s “big tent” approach cannot involve any form of collaboration with UMNO, Bersatu or PAS, said Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Mohamad Sabu.

The Kota Raja MP said that there was no way that Pakatan would work with “traitors” who betrayed the people’s trust and mandate, alluding to Bersatu and several former PKR leaders’ roles in the Sheraton Move which had led to the collapse of the Pakatan government.

“It must be stressed that the traitors are those who have hopped parties to join Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional (PN) due to the offers that were made to them at that time,” he said in a statement today.

Mohamad, better known as Mat Sabu, also said that Pakatan should keep its door open to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s Pejuang, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal’s Warisan and Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s MUDA as these parties and leaders did not betray the people’s mandate.

As a political party that wants to fulfil its responsibility to the people by working for victory in the 15th general election (GE15) it is necessary for the Opposition to put up a united front, he added.

“As we head in that direction Amanah will try to increase the number of allies facing Barisan Nasional (BN) and PN at the polls,” he remarked.

“For those who have already decided that we will not win GE15, there is of course no need for such efforts. The effort to lose is easier than the fight to win.”

Earlier today, DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng declared that his party would not work with Bersatu and PAS as he did not trust the leaders of both parties.

Lim further told Utusan Malaysia that he did not want to meet Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to discuss any form of cooperation as the latter was one of the masterminds behind the Sheraton Move which had led to the collapse of the Pakatan government. – April 18, 2022
