Matrade partners with Deloitte to drive transformation initiatives for M’sian exporters

THE Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) has entered into a strategic partnership with Deloitte to advance its transformation initiatives aimed at empowering Malaysian exporters and boosting the nation’s global trade capabilities.

Under the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between the two parties, Matrade and Deloitte will collaborate closely to support the implementation of the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) through technology-led initiatives.

This partnership aligns with the Madani framework, focusing on leveraging cutting-edge technologies like GenAI to enhance Malaysia’s international trade industry.

Matrade chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican expressed confidence in the collaboration’s potential to foster a robust export ecosystem and drive sustainable economic growth.

“Our collaboration with Deloitte does not only support the Madani framework but also aligns with the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s vision of integrating AI and advanced technologies into our economy towards realising NIMP 2030,” he said.

The collaboration will involve co-creating specialised capability development programmes tailored to the needs of Malaysian exporters across various sectors which includes identifying high-potential industries, facilitating market access, and providing tailored support to enhance competitiveness in global markets.

Furthermore, Matrade and Deloitte will establish a training academy to deliver comprehensive programmes aimed at equipping Malaysian exporters with essential skills and knowledge. The partnership will also explore the use of data analytics and GenAI to generate actionable insights that benefit both Matrade and local businesses.

Deloitte Malaysia’s Technology & Transformation Leader Azhar Hussin highlighted the company’s commitment to adapting global expertise to local contexts, ensuring customised solutions that address the specific challenges and opportunities faced by Malaysian exporters.

“This partnership is about more than just technology and strategy; it’s about empowering local businesses to thrive in the global marketplace while furthering Malaysia’s values and national goals,” he added. – June 27, 2024
