MCA Youth has hit out at its unity government ally DAP for undermining the party’s stance of not campaigning in the upcoming Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) by-election if the candidate is not from Barisan Nasional (BN).
In this regard, the wing’s information chief Neow Choo Seong has clarified “erroneous accusations” that the MCA is power-hungry in that it harboured the intention to contest in the upcoming KKB by-election.
“It should be noted that lately, DAP leaders including its secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook had openly attacked and insulted MCA with various accusations and misperceptions,” Neow pointed out in a media statement.
“Loke has haughtily declared that he dislikes MCA and labelled MCA as a ‘parti towkay’. This slur is clearly a malicious slander to tarnish MCA’s reputation.”
Following that, Neow claimed that another influential DAP leader, its vice-chairman Teresa Kok, has also conceitedly ordered MCA to quit Barisan Nasional (BN).
“Isn’t this an insult to BN when she arbitrarily directs such action? Since when does DAP have the right to determine BN’s direction?” asked the former first secretary and head of chancery at the Malaysian embassy in the US for four years prior to his return to Malaysia in December 2021.
“Some even alleged that DAP’s candidate is BN’s candidate. Since when did DAP become a component of BN? Why doesn’t Kok demand the Unity Government Secretariat to exclude MCA from supporting the unity government?
“Or is Kok aware that MCA does not act in isolation but on behalf of BN consisting of UMNO, MCA, MIC and PBRS?”
According to Neow who contested in the Taiping parliamentary seat during the 15th General Election (GE15), the increasingly arrogant conduct of DAP leaders has hurt the grassroots of MCA.
“After insulting our party with various derogatory and annoying sputter, are the MCA grassroots left with any desire to come to DAP’s aid to defend the KKB seat?” he asked.
“MCA Youth believes that the same response would have been given should this scenario had befallen any party. No party member is willing to see their party’s dignity being toyed around or trampled by another party, especially one that exists solely to substitute our party, unless we ourselves cowardly do not resist” – April 23, 2024
