Medac: Extend Wage Subsidy 3.0 to Sarawak, they’re affected too

MINISTER of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar hopes that the Government will extend the Wage Subsidy 3.0 Permai initiative to Sarawak as well, since businesses there are affected by COVID-19 too.

Currently, many companies in Sarawak are not eligible to apply for this assistance since the state is only placed under conditional movement control order (CMCO) and the subsidy is only applicable to businesses in areas under MCO.

“I feel this is a technical issue that can be resolved amicably. It is not right for the Sarawak businesses to be deprived of this subsidy,” the minister said in a stamen today.

Under the previous Wage Subsidy Programme (WSP) 1.0, initially administered by the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO), employers will receive RM600 for each worker earning RM4,000 and below.

The programme was reintroduced earlier this year by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin – Jan 30, 2021
