AMID questions on fielding newbies in the Melaka state election with little experience, netizens say that the “experienced” ones are not only racists but also sexist and lack professionalism.
Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim shared his insight in a reply to user @alfiezainal, where the latter spoke against fielding candidates with little or no work experience at all.
(Those who curse in Parliament, those who asked Malaysians to go home to “China” and “India”, the sexist who said our female MP’s were “leaking”, those who swindle from public coffers, failed in managing COVID-19, betrayed the people’s mandate, those who take bribe and conceal it as donation, those aren’t youths “without any experience”.)
Many had very similar views and supported Sim in his quote retweet, which backed the move of having youth as election candidates.
(He has a point. Mostly, those who are “experienced” isn’t always great and problematic. They’ve done many ridiculous things.)
However, there were also users who had contradicting views in regards to the matter.
One of them was user Aziz, who believed that age isn’t the main issue here. He touched on how the current job market seeks candidates with at least two or three years of work experience in their specific field, what more when it comes to handling the country. — Nov 14, 2021
(Of course, Uncle Sim. About 90% of those in there (Parliament) are all senior citizens. Things will be the same even if you replace them with youth. Such a simple thing but the fools are making it like it’s so complicated.
Even employers want graduates with two to three of years of working experience and we are talking about those who going to run a country)
(It’s a legitimate question. Candidates must have merit. Even to work as a clerk, you need experience. If being young and pretty is the only criteria, Bersatu might as well get KingCoco.)
