SPECIALTY pole maker Mestron Holdings Bhd has secured another RM13 mil worth of orders for its telecommunication segment following an earlier RM17.5 mil from the national digital communication enhancement platform, Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA) back in June.
The new orders are secured under the Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB) and Universal Service Provision (USP) projects. Touted as Malaysia’s single wholesale 5G network operator, DNB is actively rolling out its 5G deployment while the USP initiatives bridge the digital divide between developed and underserved areas in Malaysia.
“The orders that we secured are testimony to the group’s commitment and track record in the telco sector,” commented Mestron’s managing director Por Teong Eng.

“With the Government’s commitment in pushing forward with its agenda to improve connectivity across the nation – and that goes beyond the JENDELA initiatives – both the projects promise extensive growth opportunities for the group.”
Indeed, Mestron has seen a sharp improvement in its order books with a total of RM53 mil year-to-date.
This is in line with the active roll-out of 5G deployments that are gradually gaining momentum as Mestron generated its revenue mainly from the sales of its standard poles and specialty poles within the telco segment.
“It has been a busy year for us as we have been awarded various contracts from different telco infrastructure players,” revealed Por. “As the group’s track record in the industry is solid, we are confident that we will benefit from the increase in telco infrastructure projects roll-out in the near-term.”
He expects the latest contract to be completed within the next six months with the proceeds “contributing positively to the group’s revenue in the near term”.
At the close of yesterday’s (Sept 6) trading, Mestron was up 0.5 sen or 1.35% to 37.5 sen with 18 million shares traded, thus valuing the company at RM349 mil. – Sept 7, 2022
