SPECIALTY pole maker Mestron Holdings Bhd has clarified that the RM13 mil worth of orders recently clinched by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Mestron Engineering Sdn Bhd, came from various network facility providers instead of Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB), whose key role is to accelerate the deployment of 5G infrastructure and network in Malaysia.
The contracts secured under the group’s telecommunication segment between January this year and the date of its recent announcement on Sept 6 comprised 38 purchase orders from 15 customers.
To recap, a media statement issued by Mestron on that day stated that the said RM13 mil worth of orders which came following an earlier RM17.5 mil from national digital communication enhancement platform Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA) back in June, enabled the group to see a sharp improvement in its order books to RM53 mil year-to-date.
“We want to highlight the orders were not coming from DNB,” commented Mestron’s managing director Por Teong Eng in the group’s latest media statement.

“We would like to clarify that we have no contractual relationship with DNB but Mestron has been actively engaging with various different parties to ensure the resilience of our business.”
Additionally, Mestron also shared that said orders are not limited to one single project venue but “diversified across the country, including Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak”.
“We are excited with the opportunities amid rising demand for digital infrastructure solutions,” added Por.
“We look forward to contributing to the 5G initiative by developing our nationwide 5G infrastructure with our various partners and customers.
In the short term, Mestron believes this will contribute positively to its earnings and add value for its shareholders.
At the close of yesterday’s (Sept 9) trading, Mestron was unchanged at 37.5 sen with 12.61 mil shares traded, thus valuing the company at RM349 mil. – Sept 10, 2022
