Meta Bright posts 30% net earnings growth in FY6/2026 on higher multi-segment contributions

MAIN Market-listed diversified energy conglomerate, Meta Bright Group Bhd, has seen revenue for FY6/2026 ended June 30, 2026 firmed 14.7% year-on-year (yoy) to RM275.4 mil (FY6/2025: RM240.04 mil) while its net profit soared 30.4% yoy to RM16.07 mil (FY6/2025: RM12.33 mil).

Basic earnings per share stood at 0.59 sen. All in all, FY6/2026 demonstrates the group’s corporate transformation is delivering higher earnings and improved cash generation, according to its executive director (corporate and strategic planning) Derek Phang Kiew Lim.

“Our net earnings grew at twice the pace of revenue while net operating cash flow reached RM27.3 mil despite continued capital expenditure across our operations,” he enthused.

The interim dividend paid during the year represents a notable milestone for Meta Bright, marking our first dividend distribution in more than two decades.

While we’ve resumed returning capital to shareholders, we remain disciplined in balancing distributions with the capital required to fund our growth initiatives.

Looking back, the group’s core operations performed steadily throughout FY6/2026 with its building materials segment maintaining a solid foundation in Sabah while its property development and hospitality divisions delivered higher revenue.

“Moving forward to FY6/2027, our energy-related business is transitioning from project-based delivery to a more integrated technical platform,” observed Phang.

“The addition of TTOP Industrial & Engineering Sdn Bhd and Bumidotearth Sdn Bhd strengthens our in-house capabilities across EPCC (engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning), electrical engineering, energy efficiency and building optimisation solutions.”

The recent RM18.2 mil EPCC contract for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) secured by TTOP for electrical and instrumentation works is an early validation of these capabilities. It demonstrates Meta Bright’s ability to participate in higher-value engineering projects beyond conventional solar installations.

TTOP is also currently executing an EV (electric vehicle) bus terminal project in Johor, hence further demonstrating the breadth of its capabilities across electrical infrastructure and emerging mobility-related projects.

Together, these capabilities position Meta Bright to address a broader range of opportunities across Malaysia’s energy and electrical infrastructure sectors.

As of end-June 2026, net cash generated from operating activities spiked 87.9% to RM27.3 mil from RM14.5 mil a year ago. Total cash and cash equivalents within the group stood at RM30.5 mil during that period, up from RM13.8 mil in end-June 2025.

Total assets grew to RM595.4 mil while total equity rose 14.3% to RM347.0 mil. Total borrowings stood at RM163.1 mil from RM157.1 mil of end-June 2025.

During the financial year, Meta Bright distributed an interim single-tier dividend of 0.0367 sen/share amounting to approximately RM1.0 mil.

In July 2026, Meta Bright completed two strategic corporate exercises to expand its energy division:

  • TTOP (70% acquisition) adds in-house EPCC, solar and electrical engineering capabilities, thus enabling direct project execution; and
  • Bumidotearth Sdn Bhd (51% subscription) provides energy efficiency solutions for commercial and industrial facilities by focusing on HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) optimisation through its dynamic control drive technology and related energy management solutions.

Against the backdrop of the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP 2.0) which is projected to catalyse approximately RM9.1 bil in commercial and industrial energy efficiency investments, the group sees growing opportunities for it to expand its participation in the energy efficiency sector.

As it is, the group is currently undertaking preliminary site assessments with various parties to evaluate potential projects and deployment opportunities.

Elsewhere, Meta Bright remains focused on executing its core building materials, hospitality and energy businesses while adopting a measured approach toward new property development investments.

At the close of Friday’s (Aug 28) market trading, Meta Bright was down 0.5 sen or 3.7% to 13 sen with 205,600 shares traded, thus valuing the company at RM361.9 mil. – Aug 31, 2026
