Mi Sedaap for the Malaysian market is safe for consumption

GENTLE Supreme Sdn Bhd, the distributor of Mi Sedaap for the Malaysian market, has issued assurance that all its instant noodle products presently sold in Malaysia are in full compliance with the food safety regulations enforced by the Health Ministry (MOH), hence are safe for consumption.

On this note, the company also highlighted that there are currently no active orders by the MOH to recall Mi Sedaap noodle products in the market.

Moreover, the distributor has been working closely with the MOH to ensure all Mi Sedaap products sold in Malaysia meet the requirements, thus dispelling health concerns stemming from the MOH’s media statement entitled “Issue on Instant Noodle Product Containing Ethylene Oxide which was disseminated on April 26.

“Mi Sedaap products do not contain pesticide residue and the recent statement issued on April 24 by Taipei’s Department of Health on instant noodles products found to be carcinogenic is NOT related to Mi Sedaap,” the company’s regulatory affairs manager Eliza Yanti pointed out in a media statement.

“Together with our manufacturers, we have placed strict food safety and quality controls at our Mi Sedaap factories, including thorough quality checks at each stage of our raw material sourcing and manufacturing process which comply with international food safety standards.”

This, according to Eliza, includes comprehensive testing to ensure that every packet of Mi Sedaap noodles complies with all applicable food safety laws as well as high quality standard and product safety before they reach consumers.

Towards this end, Gentle Supreme said both the manufacturers and distributors of Mi Sedaap have obtained numerous certifications/approvals from various bodies in Malaysia and Indonesia. They are:

  • Halal Certificates from JAKIM (Islamic Development Department Malaysia)
  • Permission from Food and Drug Agency of Indonesia
  • Good Manufacturing Practice certification by Food and Drug Agency of Indonesia
  • ISO 22000 Certification for International Standard of Food Safety Management
  • ISO 9001 Certification for International Standard of Quality Management
  • Halal Certificate from Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI)
  • Halal Certification from Indonesian Halal Product Assurance Body

“These certifications fortify our assurance that Mi Sedaap products meet the production standards that are highly controlled and are produced under stringent production and supervision standards,” noted Eliza.

“They also meet all the required food safety standards throughout the supply chain thereby ensuring that Mi Sedaap products are safe to be consumed by the public.” – May 5, 2023
