MIC dismisses Selangor PKR Youth’s warning to leave the coalition if it is insincere. Vice-president Datuk T Mohan deemed it a routine matter in party discussions.
“In any debate, it is typical for delegates to want to appear like heroes. The PKR representatives are no different. MIC remains unfazed,” FreeMalaysiaToday quoted Mohan as saying, emphasising the party’s confidence.
He highlighted positive relations between the MIC leadership including its president Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran and deputy president Datuk Seri M Saravanan with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“At our general meeting, it also decided that this collaboration would continue.”
Selangor PKR Youth chief Izuan Kasim had urged unity government components to leave if their support lacked sincerity during the recent national PKR congress. Responding to Saravanan’s earlier statement about potential “further action,” Izuan called for genuine commitment.
Mohan views Saravanan’s stance positively, characterising it as an effort to enhance Anwar’s government. He clarified that MIC’s request for recognition is constructive feedback, not a threat.
“The request for recognition of MIC’s role in the government was normal, it was not a threat or form of pressure from us. It is necessary to provide feedback for the good of the government’s administration.” – Nov 29, 2023
