A MINOR commotion occurred during the Nenggiri state seat by-election near a polling centre at SMK Sungai Asap.
The incident, which happened around 9.50am, involved a shouting match between supporters of the contesting parties – Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN).
The dispute reportedly started when supporters attempted to canvass votes near the polling center. Despite police orders to disperse, the groups refused, causing traffic congestion.
The situation was eventually resolved when the police instructed both groups to return to their tents.
A total of 20,216 eligible voters are expected to cast their ballots in this by-election, featuring a direct contest between BN’s Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani and PN’s Rizwadi Ismail. – Aug 17, 2024
