THE 2025 PKR branch leadership elections in several key constituencies revealed significant shifts in party dynamics.
In Hang Tuah Jaya, Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin secured the branch chief position, while Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abdul Halim lost his bid for deputy chief.
In Pandan, Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli won decisively, signaling strong grassroots support for his leadership.
However, former MP Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid was defeated in Kapar, marking a notable upset.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari retained his Gombak branch chief role unopposed, reinforcing his dominance.
Towards Klang, Azmizam Zaman Huri triumphed with a comfortable majority, and in Kota Raja, Dr Gunaraj George emerged victorious with a significant mandate.
Meanwhile, former PKR vice-president Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin secured a decisive victory as the Hang Tuah Jaya division chief, strengthening his influence within the party.
On the other hand, in Alor Setar, former MP Chan Ming Kai dominated the division chief race, defeating Ang Say Thong convincingly.
The final results showed Dr. Gunaraj securing 4,643 votes, far ahead of his challenger, who garnered 1,615 votes.
These results highlight both continuity and change within PKR’s grassroots leadership, setting the stage for broader political implications.
