MoF to discuss with other ministries, industries on economic stimulus package

KUALA LUMPUR: The Finance Ministry (MoF) will hold discussions with several other ministries, industries and related services companies to get inputs in drawing up an economic stimulus package following the 2019 novel coronavirus outbreak.

“The Ministry is most concerned with the outbreak which has affected the economy in general and Malaysia’s tourism sector specifically,” it said when disclosing that the Cabinet has asked it to plan the package to address the economic impacts from the epidemic.

Others involved include the Economic Affairs; Tourism, Arts and Culture;  and International Trade and Industry ministries as well as the industries and related services companies.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad today said two out of 107 individuals who arrived in Malaysia on Tuesday morning from Wuhan, China, under the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief initiated by the Malaysian government tested positive for coronavirus.

This brings the positive cases in Malaysia to 12 – nine Chinese citizens and three Malaysians.

Malaysia recorded its first recovery yesterday, a four-year old girl from China who was treated at Sultanah Maliha Hospital, Langkawi, Kedah for coronavirus and was allowed to return home after recovering from the disease. – Feb 5, 2020, Bernama
