Mom goes viral documenting the challenges of caring for a tantrum-prone child

IT IS very interesting when we ponder the fact that the most gentle person could also be the toughest.

Mothers that’s what. Recently, a mom went viral for documenting her journey, caring for her two year old child who had tantrum issues.

She said that her child is going through a phase which is commonly known as the “terrible twos.”

The video has since received over 73 comments and 1,600 reposts, with many netizens commending her for her patience.

Also, it is a subtle nod to Mother’s Day and the immense sacrifices mothers across the world have made for their children.

According to Parents.com, the “terrible twos” is a typical developmental phase where toddlers shift between dependence on adults and a growing sense of independence.

The American Academy of Pediatrics adds that this stage often involves heightened physical activity, emotional expression, mood swings, and frequent temper tantrums.

Netizens who watched the video also chipped in to share their parenting tips.

Take for example, @akmalaffendi who said children are prone to tantrums if they are usually exposed to cartoons on their mobile phones.

He theorised that they get angry as they do not get their entertainment. Instead, @akmalaffendi suggested that growing children should not be exposed to this form of entertainment.

“My child does not use a phone until after SPM. He uses the television once a week only,” said @amirbetul, adding that it was easy to care for his child.

Also, netizen @encik_bo warned that over exposure results in hyperactivity, sleep disturbance, mood and speech delay.

On the other hand, @ProcyonLottor pointed out that the child’s parents did not teach him to comfort himself. “Every time he cries, you run over and give him attention,” said @ProcyonLottor.

Amid all the tips, techniques and occasional condemnation, the comment from @adzizi is a heartening one. “Just enjoy this brief moment. Before u know it, your kids are already working their own life and by that time you are thinking how I wish I can savor this moment again,” he said.

Observing the video, we can all agree that mothers are angels without wings. So here is a huge Happy Mother’s Day to all the awesome mummies out there that make the world go round. —May 11, 2025
