More character, convenience and comfort with the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLA

MERCEDES-BENZ Malaysia (MBM) today unveiled its eighth model to join the premium SUV line-up, the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLA.

The new GLA represents the entry level into the brand’s successful family of SUV models, and is synonymous with all kinds of strength, while carrying the hallmark of luxury, status and exclusivity.

“At Mercedes-Benz, we take pride in a strong belief of providing only the best experience, as we continue to meet the demands of our customers.

“With this (the new GLA) added to our ever-expanding luxury SUV portfolio, our customers now have more options to choose from,” president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Claus Weidner commented.

The model combines the better of two very successful segments – compact car and SUV – with features a sporty and progressive design that makes it stand out among the SUVs and is the key entry point to the brand in the fast-growing compact SUV family.

“This enables us to offer a unique lifestyle proposition that is similar to the bigger GLB that we have recently introduced,” noted Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s vice president (sales & marketing passenger cars) Michael Jopp.

Additionally, the new GLA features powerful overall proportions with short overhangs front and rear. The front section flows over the A-pillar into the visually compact greenhouse.

Suggested power domes in the bonnet, along with its wheels up to 19-inch in size and mounted flush with the outer edge of the body, reinforce the self-assured appearance.

With a length of 4.41 metres, the new GLA is additionally the shortest vehicle from the current Mercedes-Benz portfolio and thus perfectly suited to life in the city.

Also, its all-round protective cladding adds structure to the overall proportions and emphasises the vehicle’s character as does the simulated underride guard at the front and rear.

The GLA offers more space with being more than ten centimetres taller than its predecessor. The higher seating position makes more headroom available on the front seats.

Legroom in the rear is likewise more generous although it is now one and a half centimetres shorter.

Moreover, it comes with a host of driving assistance systems, offering the driver cooperative support and so providing one of the highest standards of active safety in the compact car segment such as the active brake assist and blind spot assist.

The blind spot assist can signal to the driver with a visual warning in the exterior mirror when the vehicle is at a standstill before they climb out that a vehicle is driving past in the critical area. – Dec 15, 2020
