HEALTH director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah today announced that Covid-19 recoveries in Malaysia have exceeded 90% of the number of confirmed cases.

In a statement, he shared that the 333 new recoveries reported today are a new record, and brings the total number of discharged patients to 7,733, or 90.9% of the overall total.

11 new cases were reported today, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 8,505. Of the 11, one is an imported case while the others are locally transmitted ones – six non-Malaysians and four Malaysians.

Of the 651 active transmission cases, four are in intensive care. No patient required ventilator support, and no deaths were reported today, maintaining the death toll at 121.

He also cautioned Malaysians that dengue is once again on the rise, growing at an average of 8% a week.

“This is a worrying trend, and this is a reminder to us all that, while the country fights the Covid-19 pandemic, it must not forget the war on dengue,” he said. – June 16, 2020
